The MERIT BRASS XB112-0604 is a brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two female threaded pipe ends of different sizes within a pressurized piping system. It features female BSP tapered (FBSPT) threads on both ends, accepting a 3/8-inch pipe on one side and a 1/4-inch pipe on the other. Rated Class 125, it is suitable for moderate-pressure service in water, air, and compatible fluid lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting when reducing pipe diameter inline without additional adapters or bushings.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate and small-bore water lines, compressed air distribution, and general fluid handling applications where a threaded inline size reduction is required. The FBSPT x FBSPT thread configuration makes it compatible with standard tapered female-thread pipe assemblies in both new construction and retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for threaded brass piping systems requiring an inline reduction from 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch female BSP tapered connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local mechanical codes. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing any existing fittings or threading in this coupling. Apply thread sealant tape or compound rated for the service fluid to all male threads before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten; stop when the joint is snug and pressure-tested.
