The MERIT BRASS XB111-24 is a Class 125 threaded brass pipe coupling designed to join two sections of pipe using female British Standard Pipe Taper (FBSPT) connections on both ends. This fitting is used in plumbing, hydronic, and light commercial piping systems where a reliable, leak-resistant threaded joint is required at 1-1/2 inch pipe size. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance in water and gas service applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling as part of new construction or repair work on threaded pipe assemblies.
This coupling fits 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe and is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating distribution, and similar low-pressure fluid or gas piping systems. The Class 125 pressure rating makes it appropriate for standard water supply and distribution lines. It is installed wherever a straight connection between two threaded pipe ends is needed without a change in direction or pipe size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch threaded pipe systems using FBSPT connections rated at Class 125.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before making up the joint hand-tight, then wrench-tighten to achieve a leak-free seal. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as this can crack the fitting body.
