The MERIT BRASS XB103-16 is a 90-degree street elbow fitting designed for brass pipe systems in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping applications. It features a female British Standard Pipe Taper (FBSPT) inlet and a male British Standard Pipe Taper (MBSPT) outlet, allowing a compact directional change without a separate nipple. Rated Class 125, this fitting is suited for moderate-pressure service in standard pipe assemblies. At 0.63 pounds, it is a solid brass construction intended for installation by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on threaded pipe systems.
This street elbow is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where a 90-degree turn is needed in a tight space. The street configuration — female on one end, male on the other — allows direct connection to a fitting or valve without an intermediate pipe section. Typical applications include water supply lines, fuel gas distribution, compressed air, and hydronic heating systems where Class 125 brass fittings are appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch threaded brass pipe systems rated at Class 125 service.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to a snug, leak-free connection — do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material can crack. Pressure-test the system after installation per local code requirements.
