The MERIT BRASS XB102-20 is a Class 125 brass pipe fitting with female British standard pipe taper (FBSPT) connections on both ends. It is designed for joining threaded pipe runs in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping systems where a reliable, corrosion-resistant connection is required at 1-1/4 inches fitting size. The brass construction provides good durability in water and low-pressure service lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers. The Class 125 pressure rating suits standard residential and commercial service conditions.
This fitting is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating loops, compressed air distribution, and general-purpose pipe assemblies. The 1-1/4 inches fitting size makes it appropriate for main supply lines and branch runs where moderate flow capacity is needed. Its FBSPT x FBSPT end configuration allows it to receive male-threaded pipe or nipples from both sides, making it useful in straight-run coupling or adapter applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inches threaded pipe systems using FBSPT-compatible male-threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is softer than iron and can crack under excessive torque.
