The MERIT BRASS X114-0804 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch male NPT connection down to a 1/4-inch female NPT port. This hex bushing allows plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians to transition between two standard NPT pipe sizes within a single fitting. Built to Class 125 pressure rating, it is suited for low- to moderate-pressure applications in gas, air, water, and steam distribution systems. The brass construction provides corrosion resistance and reliable thread engagement in both residential and light commercial piping assemblies.
This bushing is used in situations where a pipe or valve with a 1/4-inch FNPT port must be connected to a 1/2-inch MNPT supply line or manifold. Typical applications include instrumentation taps, gauge ports, valve inlets, and branch connections on plumbing, HVAC, and compressed air systems. It is sold individually and commonly stocked by contractors who work across residential service calls and light commercial installations.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded reduction fitting compatible with standard 1/2-inch MNPT and 1/4-inch FNPT pipe connections in Class 125 plumbing, HVAC, and compressed air systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians. Shut off the supply line and relieve system pressure before threading the bushing into place. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads per local code requirements, referencing the IPC or IFGC as applicable to the service medium. Do not overtighten; use a wrench on the hex body only and avoid applying torque to downstream components.
