The MERIT BRASS SW3616D-02 is a 1/8 inch socket weld pipe end cap machined from 316 stainless steel. It is designed to terminate the open end of a pipe run, sealing the line against pressure loss or contamination. Rated to 3,000 psi, this fitting is suited for high-pressure fluid and gas systems where corrosion resistance is critical. The socket weld end connection provides a strong, leak-resistant joint when properly fillet-welded by a qualified pipefitter or welder. Plumbers and mechanical contractors working in industrial, chemical, or marine piping systems commonly specify 316 stainless fittings for their superior resistance to chlorides and aggressive media.
This end cap is used in small-bore piping applications across industrial process systems, instrumentation lines, hydraulic assemblies, and high-pressure plumbing installations. The 1/8 inch size is typically found in instrument takeoff points, sample lines, and branch terminations where a compact, pressure-rated closure is required. Socket weld construction makes it appropriate for systems where threaded connections are undesirable and a permanent, welded seal is preferred.
Designed as an OEM-style socket weld end cap for 1/8 inch pipe in 316 stainless steel high-pressure piping systems rated to 3,000 psi.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter or welder in accordance with applicable codes such as ASME B16.11 for socket weld fittings. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing any existing fittings or installing this cap. The pipe end must be inserted to the proper socket depth and fillet-welded per the applicable welding procedure specification. Do not use this fitting in applications that exceed its rated pressure or temperature limits without confirming suitability with the system engineer.
