The MERIT BRASS SW3612D-1206 is a socket weld pipe reducer designed to transition from a 3/4-inch pipe to a 3/8-inch pipe in high-pressure piping systems. Constructed from 316 stainless steel, this fitting offers strong resistance to corrosion and is well suited for demanding industrial and commercial environments. It is rated to 3,000 psi, making it appropriate for use in systems that carry aggressive fluids, steam, or high-pressure gases. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians are the typical installers of this fitting class.
This reducer is used in process piping, fluid handling systems, and mechanical installations where a step-down from 3/4-inch to 3/8-inch pipe is required. The socket weld end connection on both sides allows the fitting to be fillet-welded directly onto pipe ends, creating a strong, leak-resistant joint. Applications commonly include chemical processing lines, hydraulic systems, and general industrial piping where 316 stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance.
Designed as an OEM-style socket weld reducer for use in 3,000 psi Class socket weld piping systems utilizing 3/4-inch and 3/8-inch pipe connections.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter or licensed plumber following applicable codes such as ASME B16.11 for socket weld fittings. Depressurize and drain the system fully before cutting into any existing line. Socket weld fittings require proper gap spacing between the pipe end and the socket shoulder prior to welding to allow for thermal expansion. Do not apply thread sealant or mechanical compression methods to socket weld end connections.
