The MERIT BRASS SW3611HD-04 is a 1/4-inch pipe half coupling machined from 316 stainless steel, rated for 3,000 psi service. A half coupling provides a branch or end connection on a pipe run where only one female end is needed. This fitting uses a socket weld end connection and is also threaded, giving installers flexibility in how it is incorporated into a high-pressure piping assembly. The 316 stainless steel construction provides strong resistance to corrosion and chloride environments, making it well suited for process, chemical, and marine-adjacent piping systems. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this fitting type.
This half coupling is intended for use in high-pressure pipe systems where a 1/4-inch branch or terminal connection is required. The socket weld configuration is common in commercial and industrial settings where leak-tight, permanent joints are needed under elevated pressure or temperature conditions. Applications include instrumentation lines, chemical process piping, steam service, and hydraulic systems where 316 stainless steel is specified for its corrosion resistance. The 3,000 psi pressure rating places this fitting in the Class 3000 forged fitting category, appropriate for small-bore high-pressure runs.
Designed as an OEM-style Class 3000 half coupling for 1/4-inch socket weld pipe systems where 316 stainless steel material is specified.
Installation of socket weld fittings should be performed by a licensed pipefitter or plumber in accordance with applicable mechanical and piping codes. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before cutting in or modifying any fitting. Socket weld joints require proper fit-up, gap spacing, and fillet weld per applicable welding procedures before returning the system to service. Do not exceed the rated working pressure of 3,000 psi for this fitting size and material grade.
