The MERIT BRASS SW3412D-1206 is a socket weld pipe reducer fitting designed to transition from a 3/4-inch pipe to a 3/8-inch pipe in high-pressure industrial and mechanical piping systems. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, this reducer carries a 3,000 psi pressure rating, making it suitable for demanding fluid and gas service applications. The socket weld end connections on both sides allow the fitting to be welded directly onto the pipe ends, producing a permanent, leak-resistant joint. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians typically install this type of fitting in process piping, hydraulic lines, and compressed gas distribution systems.
This reducer is well suited for commercial and industrial piping installations where stainless steel corrosion resistance and high-pressure capability are required. The socket weld configuration is commonly used in Class 3000 pipe assemblies found in manufacturing facilities, chemical processing environments, and mechanical rooms where threaded connections are not acceptable and permanent welded joints are specified. The 3/4 x 3/8-inch size makes this fitting appropriate for reducing branch lines from a larger main header.
Designed as an OEM-style socket weld reducer for Class 3000 stainless steel pipe assemblies using 3/4-inch to 3/8-inch transitions.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter or welder in accordance with applicable piping codes such as ASME B31.3 for process piping. Shut down and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. The socket weld joint requires proper gap clearance between the pipe end and the socket shoulder prior to welding, as specified by the applicable welding procedure. Post-weld inspection and system pressure testing should be completed before returning the line to service.
