The MERIT BRASS NLBS115-0604 is a lead-free brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 3/8-inch male NPT connection down to a 1/4-inch female NPT port. It provides a reliable threaded transition between two different pipe sizes in low- to medium-pressure piping systems. Rated at 125 psi and classified as Class 125, this bushing is suited for water, compressed air, and general fluid service applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting when downsizing threaded lines in tight spaces where a hex bushing or coupling is not practical.
This bushing is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, and compressed air distribution lines. Its MNPT x FNPT end connections make it a direct thread-in fitting requiring no solder, press tools, or specialty equipment. The lead-free construction meets requirements for potable water applications under applicable plumbing codes. It is commonly installed at equipment inlets, gauges, valves, and instrumentation ports where a pipe size reduction is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/8-inch MNPT x 1/4-inch FNPT threaded pipe connections in Class 125 plumbing and fluid systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Thread both the male and female connections with PTFE tape or pipe thread sealant rated for the service fluid before assembly. Do not over-tighten — use a pipe wrench and snug the fitting firmly without stressing the female port. Shut off and depressurize the line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting.
