The MERIT BRASS MB22740 is a 2-inch copper female adapter press fitting designed to transition between a press-style connection and a female NPT threaded connection in potable water and hydronic systems. Rated to 300 psi maximum working pressure and suitable for temperatures from 0 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this fitting is built for demanding residential and light commercial plumbing applications. The press-style end eliminates open-flame soldering, allowing faster installation in occupied spaces or areas where torch work is restricted. Lead-free construction meets NSF-61/372 requirements for safe use in drinking water systems. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This fitting is suited for potable water distribution, hydronic heating, and fire suppression rough-in work where a transition from a press copper main line to a female-threaded branch or fixture connection is required. The NPT thread end accepts standard pipe thread fittings, valves, and equipment connections. With an outside diameter of 2.594 inches and a press end that works with compatible press tooling, it integrates into copper press system installations without additional adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-install fitting for 2-inch copper press piping systems using NPT-threaded termination points. Compatible with standard press tooling sized for 2-inch copper press fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC standards. Shut off and depressurize the water supply and verify the pipe is dry before pressing. Use only a calibrated press tool with the correct jaw size for 2-inch copper press fittings — an incomplete press will not seal. The NPT thread end must be properly sealed with thread sealant or PTFE tape before making up the threaded connection.
