The MERIT BRASS MB11590 is a 45-degree street elbow designed for copper pipe systems in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC hydronic applications. It features a press x solder end connection, allowing one end to push-to-connect onto copper tubing without soldering while the opposite end accepts a standard solder joint. Constructed from lead-free copper, the MB11590 carries a maximum working pressure of 300 psi and a maximum working temperature of 250 degrees F, making it suitable for domestic hot and cold water lines as well as low-pressure hydronic heating circuits. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This fitting is intended for 1/2-inch copper pipe systems where a 45-degree directional change is required without the use of a coupling or additional street adapter. The press end simplifies installation in tight spaces or retrofit work where torch access is limited or restricted. The solder end integrates directly into standard sweat-joint copper assemblies. It is rated for temperatures down to 0 degrees F, covering typical above-grade indoor plumbing environments. The fitting meets IAPMO PS117 and NSF-61/372 standards, confirming suitability for potable water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 1/2-inch copper pipe systems using press or sweat-joint connections in potable water and hydronic heating applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before fitting installation. The press end requires a compatible press tool and jaw set rated for the fitting diameter — do not attempt to seat the press connection by hand force alone. For the solder end, clean and flux the copper pipe and fitting socket per standard sweat-joint procedure before applying heat.
