The MERIT BRASS K602-40 is a 45-degree pipe elbow fitting designed for threaded piping systems requiring corrosion-resistant construction. Built from 316 stainless steel, this fitting handles a working pressure of 150 psi and connects via female NPT threads on both ends. At 2-1/2 inches, it suits mid-to-large diameter piping runs where a 45-degree directional change is needed. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in industrial, commercial, and marine environments where 316 stainless is specified for its superior resistance to chlorides and harsh process fluids.
This fitting is suited for use in plumbing, process piping, and fluid-handling systems where a 45-degree change in flow direction is required at a 2-1/2-inch pipe connection. Typical applications include chemical processing lines, marine plumbing, food and beverage piping, and coastal or offshore installations where standard 304 stainless or carbon steel fittings would be subject to accelerated corrosion. The FNPT x FNPT end connections allow direct threaded engagement with standard NPT male-threaded pipe ends or nipples.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use with standard 2-1/2-inch NPT male-threaded pipe in 150-class stainless steel piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before engagement. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as stainless steel fittings are susceptible to galling if excessive torque is applied without lubrication.
