The MERIT BRASS K410-40 is a 2-1/2 inch four-way pipe cross fitting machined from 304 stainless steel. It provides a single inline junction point where four threaded pipe runs meet, distributing flow in opposing directions on both axes. The female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) threads on all four ports allow direct connection to standard NPT-threaded pipe or fittings without adapters. Rated to 150 psi, this fitting is suited for moderate-pressure liquid and gas distribution systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians typically install this fitting where a tee is insufficient and a full cross-branch connection is required.
This cross fitting is used in residential and commercial plumbing, fire protection rough-in, HVAC hydronic piping, compressed air distribution, and light industrial fluid handling. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in wet or mildly corrosive environments, making it a common choice for potable water, process water, and chemical-compatible service lines. The 2-1/2 inch size is typical in main distribution headers and larger branch manifold configurations where flow volume demands a full-bore cross junction.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded cross fitting for use with standard 2-1/2 inch NPT pipe and fittings in plumbing, hydronic, compressed air, and light industrial piping systems rated at or below 150 psi.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASME B16.3 standards for threaded fittings. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before disassembling any existing piping. Apply thread sealant tape or paste rated for the service medium to all male NPT threads before makeup. Do not over-torque stainless steel fittings, as galling on the threads can occur if excessive force is applied during assembly.
