The MERIT BRASS BS115-0402 is a threaded brass pipe bushing used to reduce a 1/4-inch male NPT connection down to a 1/8-inch female NPT port. The bushing is rated Class 125, making it suitable for low-pressure water, air, and gas distribution piping. Its all-brass construction resists corrosion in wet and humid environments. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of bushing when adapting between two different pipe sizes within a threaded assembly. The MNPT x FNPT configuration allows it to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or port while accepting a smaller male-threaded line on the outlet side.
This bushing is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and pneumatic applications where a compact threaded reducer is needed. It fits standard NPT pipe thread systems and is commonly installed in piping manifolds, valve bodies, gauge ports, and instrument connections. The 1/4-inch male end threads into the receiving fitting, and the 1/8-inch female end accepts the smaller downstream connection. This part ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 6 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install threaded brass bushing for standard NPT pipe thread systems in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and pneumatic piping applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or HVAC technicians following applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off the water or air supply and depressurize the line before threading in the bushing. Apply a compatible thread sealant tape or pipe compound to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as excessive force can crack or distort the threads.
