The MERIT BRASS A2D80R is an 80-amp, 250-volt, Class RK1 time-delay fuse sold in a pack of five. Time-delay fuses are designed to withstand brief inrush currents without nuisance tripping, making them well suited for motor and transformer circuits where startup loads exceed running loads. The RK1 class designation indicates a high-interrupting-capacity rejection-style fuse, offering a higher level of fault current protection than standard Class K fuses. Licensed electricians install these fuses in fusible disconnect switches, panelboards, and motor-control equipment.
This fuse is appropriate for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems where branch-circuit or feeder protection is required at 250 volts or below. Common applications include HVAC equipment disconnects, pump motor circuits, and other inductive-load branch circuits that benefit from the time-delay characteristic. Each pack contains five fuses, suitable for stocking or a multi-circuit service call.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class RK1 fusible disconnect and motor-circuit protection applications rated at 250 volts and 80 amps.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit at the upstream overcurrent device before removing or installing fuses. Verify that the fuse holder or disconnect is rated for Class RK1 fuses; RK1 rejection features prevent insertion into non-RK1 holders. Confirm the circuit voltage and ampacity match the fuse rating before restoring power.
