The MERIT BRASS A2D225R is a 225-amp, 250-volt Class RK1 time-delay fuse designed for overcurrent protection in industrial and commercial electrical systems. The time-delay characteristic allows the fuse to ride through brief inrush currents — such as those produced by motor starts and transformer energization — without nuisance opening, while still providing fast, reliable clearing on sustained overloads and short circuits. Class RK1 construction delivers a high degree of current limitation, making it suitable for installations where equipment protection is critical. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this fuse type.
This fuse is used in motor branch circuits, feeder circuits, and service entrance applications in commercial and light industrial settings. Its 250-volt rating covers single-phase and three-phase systems operating at or below that voltage. The RK1 class designation means it fits rejection-style fuseholders and fuse blocks designed to accept Class RK1 devices, preventing inadvertent substitution with lower-rated fuse classes. It is packaged individually, one fuse per pack.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class RK1 rejection fuseholders and fuse blocks rated for 250 volts and 225 amps or greater.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the disconnect or panel before removing or installing any fuse. Verify that the fuseholder is rated for Class RK1 devices and that the circuit voltage and amperage do not exceed the fuse ratings. Never replace a blown fuse without first identifying and correcting the cause of the overcurrent condition.
