The MERIT BRASS A2D2-1/2R is a time-delay fuse rated at 250 volts in the RK1 fuse class. Time-delay fuses are engineered to tolerate brief inrush currents during motor startup without opening, while still providing fast protection against sustained overloads and short circuits. This class of fuse is a standard component in motor-branch circuits, HVAC equipment, and other inductive-load applications where nuisance tripping must be minimized. Licensed electricians and HVAC service technicians install RK1 fuses as part of equipment disconnect and overcurrent protection assemblies.
RK1 class fuses are used in residential and light commercial electrical systems, particularly in motor circuits, air conditioning equipment, and industrial control panels. The A2D2-1/2R is sized for applications where a rejection-style fuse holder is required, preventing the installation of lower-rated fuse classes in that holder position. This makes it a common replacement component in service work on existing fuse-protected equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for RK1 class fuse positions in motor-branch circuits and HVAC disconnect assemblies rated at 250 volts or below.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing fuses. Confirm the fuse holder is rated for RK1 class before installation. Never replace a fuse with one of a higher current rating than the circuit is designed for.
