The MERIT BRASS 8064-600 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 4 inches in nominal pipe size and 6 inches in overall length, with threads on both ends for direct connection to fittings, valves, or equipment. The nipple is rated to Schedule 40 wall thickness standards, making it suitable for moderate-pressure piping systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities over the tensile strength of steel. It meets OSHA standards for workplace piping applications.
This nipple is used in industrial, commercial, and light-duty plumbing piping systems where aluminum construction is specified. Common applications include compressed air lines, chemical transfer lines where aluminum is chemically compatible, and general fluid conveyance. The threaded-both-ends configuration allows it to drop directly into existing NPT piping runs without additional machining. It is well suited for applications requiring a corrosion-resistant, lightweight alternative to steel or brass pipe nipples.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service fitting for Schedule 40 aluminum piping systems using NPT threaded connections in industrial and commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC or OSHA piping codes. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the fluid and pressure being conveyed. Do not overtighten threaded aluminum fittings, as the alloy is more susceptible to thread damage than steel.
