The MERIT BRASS 8064-001 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy and threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard pipe fittings. At 4 inches in overall length with a 2-7/8 inch thread length, it provides a compact, rigid extension or transition point in piping runs. This nipple is suited for plumbing, compressed air, and light industrial fluid systems where aluminum construction is preferred for corrosion resistance and reduced weight. Installation is handled by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or qualified trades familiar with threaded pipe assembly.
This nipple fits into piping systems requiring a short close or shoulder nipple-style connector. The 6061 alloy construction makes it appropriate for applications where steel corrosion is a concern, including marine-adjacent environments, chemical exposure, and outdoor installations. It is rated to Schedule 40 wall thickness and meets OSHA standards, making it a code-appropriate choice for industrial and commercial work sites. The threaded-both-ends configuration allows fast make-up with standard NPT fittings and valves.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 40 threaded aluminum piping systems using NPT connections.
Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply a compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for use with aluminum fittings. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to achieve a leak-free connection without overtightening, which can crack aluminum threads. Follow applicable IPC or OSHA guidelines for the installation environment.
