The MERIT BRASS 8032-600 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy and threaded on both ends. At 2 inches nominal pipe size and 6 inches in length, it serves as a short close-coupled connector in piping assemblies where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities. The 6061 alloy provides solid strength-to-weight performance suitable for plumbing, pneumatic, and light industrial fluid-handling applications. The NPT threads on both ends allow direct connection to standard fittings, valves, and equipment ports without additional adapters. This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping installations where aluminum construction is specified over steel or brass — common in applications involving corrosive environments, weight-sensitive assemblies, or systems where galvanic compatibility with aluminum components is required. It is also used in compressed-air distribution, irrigation headers, and light-duty process piping. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or OSHA piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any nipple. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to NPT threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns using a pipe wrench — do not overtighten aluminum threads, as the alloy is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage under excess torque. Verify system pressure rating is within the Schedule 40 aluminum specification for the fluid and temperature involved.
