The MERIT BRASS 8032-500 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in fluid and gas piping systems where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities. Machined from 6061 aluminum, this nipple measures 2 inches in nominal diameter and 5 inches in length, with threads on both ends for standard threaded pipe assembly. At 0.545 pounds, it is significantly lighter than comparable steel nipples. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting in compressed air, water supply, and industrial fluid distribution lines.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where 6061 aluminum is acceptable for the conveyed medium. It is commonly used in compressed air distribution headers, low-pressure pneumatic systems, and fluid transfer lines. The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides adequate pressure capacity for typical service conditions. Both ends accept standard NPT-compatible fittings, valves, and couplings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 2-inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements for the intended service. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the conveyed medium on all threaded connections. Do not over-torque aluminum threads, as the material is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage.
