The MERIT BRASS 8032-450 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple intended for use in fluid and gas distribution systems where corrosion resistance and light weight are required. Machined from 6061 aluminum alloy, this nipple measures 2 inches in nominal pipe size with a 4.5-inch length and carries threads on both ends for straight, inline connections. It meets OSHA standards and is appropriate for installations handled by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians working in commercial and light industrial environments.
This nipple suits applications where steel corrosion is a concern and aluminum alloy construction is acceptable, including irrigation manifolds, pneumatic distribution lines, chemical handling systems, and other fluid-transfer setups requiring NPT-threaded fittings. The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides adequate pressure capability for standard service conditions. It is sold individually and is compatible with standard NPT-threaded fittings and pipe in the same nominal size.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded replacement or new-installation nipple for 2-inch Schedule 40 aluminum piping systems using compatible NPT fittings and couplings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the line fully before removing any existing fittings or nipples. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the specific service fluid and ensure threads are clean and undamaged before assembly. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings; aluminum threads are more susceptible to galling than steel.
