The MERIT BRASS 8032-250 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 2 inches nominal pipe size at 2-1/2 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard NPT fittings. This nipple is used in piping systems where corrosion resistance and light weight are required, and it meets OSHA standards for workplace applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting in low-pressure fluid and pneumatic lines. The 6061 alloy offers good machinability and adequate strength for Schedule 40 service conditions.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping applications where aluminum is preferred over steel or brass due to weight savings or corrosion concerns. Typical installations include compressed air distribution, irrigation headers, and industrial process lines. The Schedule 40 wall thickness is consistent with standard pipe dimensions for 2-inch nominal pipe, making it compatible with matching Schedule 40 pipe and fittings in the same nominal size. The OSHA-compliant construction supports use in regulated work environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 piping systems using 2-inch nominal NPT connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or OSHA guidelines. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint by hand, then tighten with a pipe wrench to a snug, leak-free connection. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings, as the alloy is softer than steel and threads can be damaged with excessive torque.
