The MERIT BRASS 8020-350 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy and threaded on both ends. Measuring 1-1/4 inches nominal pipe size by 3-1/2 inches in length, it is used to extend or connect sections of piping in industrial, mechanical, and plumbing systems where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities. Weighing 0.21 pounds, this nipple is well suited for applications where steel would add unnecessary mass or accelerate corrosion. It is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on fluid-handling and pneumatic systems.
This nipple is applicable in residential, commercial, and industrial piping assemblies that call for Schedule 40 wall thickness and NPT-compatible threaded connections. The 6061 aluminum alloy construction makes it a practical choice for air lines, low-pressure fluid systems, and installations in corrosive or outdoor environments where ferrous pipe would degrade. It meets OSHA standards, making it appropriate for job sites with regulatory compliance requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 piping systems using 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines. Depressurize and isolate the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before making up the connection. Do not overtighten threaded aluminum fittings, as the alloy is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage from excessive torque.
