The MERIT BRASS 8016-600 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 1 inch nominal pipe size by 6 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard fittings or pipe. The 6061 alloy delivers solid corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, making it suitable for fluid transfer, pneumatic, and general-purpose piping applications. At 0.276 pounds, it is lightweight and easy to handle during assembly. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians commonly install this type of nipple in both new construction and retrofit piping systems.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial installations where a short, fully threaded aluminum pipe segment is required. Typical applications include compressed air lines, irrigation systems, industrial fluid handling, and chemical distribution where aluminum is the preferred material over steel or brass. It meets OSHA standards for use in applicable piping assemblies and is compatible with standard NPT fittings of the same nominal size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component compatible with standard 1 inch NPT fittings, valves, and couplings in Schedule 40 aluminum or equivalent piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off the supply line and depressurize the system before removing or installing any pipe nipple. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads in accordance with the applicable piping code before making up the connection. Do not over-tighten aluminum threaded fittings, as the material is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage from excess torque.
