The MERIT BRASS 8016-450 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded piping assemblies in plumbing, industrial, and mechanical systems. Manufactured to Schedule 40 wall thickness, this nipple measures 1 inch nominal diameter by 4.5 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard fittings and valves. The 6061 aluminum alloy construction provides corrosion resistance and a favorable strength-to-weight ratio compared to steel alternatives. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple as a close or extension connector in low-pressure fluid and gas distribution lines where aluminum is an approved material.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications including compressed air lines, irrigation systems, and low-pressure fluid transfer where aluminum construction is compatible with the media and system requirements. The Schedule 40 wall thickness and threaded-on-both-ends configuration make it a direct-fit replacement or new-installation component in standard NPT piping systems. It meets OSHA standards as noted in the product specifications.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation pipe nipple for 1 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe components.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Depressurize and isolate the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the media being conveyed. Verify that aluminum is chemically compatible with the fluid or gas in the system before installation, as aluminum can react with certain caustic or acidic media.
