The MERIT BRASS 8016-250 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in threaded piping systems requiring a lightweight, corrosion-resistant connection. Measuring 1 inch in nominal pipe size and 2.5 inches in length, this nipple is threaded on both ends and manufactured to Schedule 40 wall thickness. It is used to make short, close extensions or connections between threaded fittings, valves, and pipe runs. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in fluid, air, and gas distribution systems where aluminum is the specified material.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, compressed air lines, irrigation systems, and industrial process piping where 6061 aluminum is called out. The Schedule 40 rating provides adequate wall thickness for standard-pressure service applications. Its threaded-on-both-ends design allows direct connection to female-threaded fittings, valves, or couplings without field modification. It meets OSHA standards as noted in the specification data.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for 1 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe and fittings.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working with threaded aluminum piping systems. Apply a compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for aluminum and the service fluid before assembly. Do not use pipe wrenches or over-torque threaded connections, as aluminum threads can gall or strip more easily than steel. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting.
