The MERIT BRASS 8016-200 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in light industrial, plumbing, and mechanical applications. Machined to Schedule 40 wall thickness, this nipple measures 1 inch nominal diameter by 2 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for direct connection into standard NPT fittings and couplings. The 6061 aluminum alloy construction keeps weight low while providing solid corrosion resistance in non-ferrous piping assemblies. At 0.084 pounds, it is well suited for applications where reducing system weight matters without sacrificing thread integrity.
This nipple is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where aluminum is preferred over steel or brass — including pneumatic lines, irrigation assemblies, and general fluid conveyance where corrosion exposure or weight restrictions are a factor. It is compatible with standard NPT threaded fittings in the same nominal size. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of Schedule 40 threaded nipples in these configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install component for standard 1 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum nipples.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or OSHA guidelines. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing threaded nipples. Use appropriate pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as aluminum threads are more susceptible to galling and cross-threading than steel.
