The MERIT BRASS 8012-550 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 3/4 inch nominal diameter by 5-1/2 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard threaded fittings and valves. This nipple is suited for plumbing, pneumatic, and light industrial piping assemblies where a lightweight, corrosion-resistant threaded connection is required. Weighing 0.2 pounds, the 6061 alloy construction provides good machinability and strength. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers in both commercial and residential applications.
This nipple is appropriate for use in low-pressure fluid and gas distribution lines where aluminum is a compatible material. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard dimensional requirements for 3/4 inch nominal pipe. The threaded-both-ends configuration suits close nipple and extension applications within a threaded piping system. It meets OSHA standards, making it acceptable for workplace and industrial installations where regulatory compliance is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 3/4 inch nominal threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated compatible with aluminum and the system media. Do not over-tighten threaded connections, as aluminum threads are more susceptible to galling than steel.
