The MERIT BRASS 8012-350 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, industrial, and mechanical systems. Measuring 3/4 inch nominal diameter by 3.5 inches in length, it is threaded on both ends to accept standard threaded fittings on either side. Constructed from 6061 aluminum alloy, the nipple offers good corrosion resistance and a favorable strength-to-weight ratio compared to steel alternatives. Schedule 40 wall thickness provides reliable pressure performance for general-service applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this nipple as a close connector between two threaded components in a variety of fluid and gas distribution systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate lines, compressed air distribution, and industrial process piping where aluminum is an acceptable material. The 3/4 inch size is a common nominal diameter used throughout supply and distribution headers. Both-end threading allows direct makeup with couplings, valves, tees, and other NPT-compatible fittings. OSHA compliance is noted for applicable workplace installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install component for 3/4 inch NPT threaded pipe systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe and fittings.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off the fluid or gas supply and depressurize the line before making up or breaking out any threaded connection. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Torque to a firm, leak-free connection using proper pipe wrenches — do not over-tighten aluminum fittings as the alloy is more susceptible to thread damage than steel.
