The MERIT BRASS 8012-250 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 3/4 inch nominal pipe size with a length of 2.5 inches and is threaded on both ends for standard NPT connections. This nipple is used to extend or connect threaded pipe runs in plumbing, compressed air, pneumatic, and light industrial piping systems. The 6061 alloy construction offers good corrosion resistance and strength at a reduced weight compared to steel or brass alternatives. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where aluminum is an acceptable material per the applicable code or engineer specification. Typical applications include compressed air distribution lines, irrigation assemblies, and low-pressure fluid transfer systems. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for 3/4 inch nominal pipe. OSHA compliance is noted for applications in workplace environments. The sold quantity is one nipple per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/4 inch NPT threaded pipe systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or OSHA regulations. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape appropriate for aluminum fittings and the conveyed medium. Do not overtighten threaded connections on aluminum, as the material is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage from excess torque.
