The MERIT BRASS 8008-200 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy, threaded on both ends for standard NPT connections. At 1/2 inch nominal diameter and 2 inches in length, it serves as a close-tolerance fitting for joining pipe sections, connecting valves, or making up assemblies in pneumatic, instrumentation, and fluid-transfer lines. Weighing approximately 0.04 pounds, this nipple is suited for applications where a lightweight, corrosion-resistant fitting is preferred over steel. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install these in both new construction and retrofit work.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial piping systems where 6061 aluminum is an acceptable material — including compressed air distribution, irrigation headers, and low-pressure fluid lines. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for the 1/2 inch nominal pipe size. Threading on both ends allows it to mate with standard NPT fittings, couplings, valves, and tees. Its compact 2-inch body makes it useful as a close nipple extension in tight-clearance manifold assemblies. OSHA standards compliance is noted for applicable installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1/2 inch NPT piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for use with aluminum fittings — avoid over-torquing, as aluminum threads can strip more easily than steel. Verify material compatibility with the process fluid before installation in any chemical or potable-water application.
