The MERIT BRASS 8006-200 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in threaded piping systems where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities. Machined from 6061 aluminum alloy, this nipple measures 3/8 inch nominal pipe size by 2 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for straightforward installation into standard NPT fittings. It is suited for plumbing, pneumatic, and light industrial fluid-transfer applications where steel would add unnecessary weight or where galvanic compatibility with aluminum system components is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial piping runs where Schedule 40 wall thickness meets system pressure requirements. The 6061 alloy construction makes it a practical choice for compressed air lines, irrigation manifolds, and similar low-to-moderate pressure fluid systems. Its 3/8 inch NPT thread profile integrates directly with standard NPT valves, couplings, and tees without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for 3/8 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off system pressure completely and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for use with aluminum fittings. Avoid over-tightening, which can crack aluminum threads; use a pipe wrench with measured, controlled torque appropriate to the fitting size.
