The MERIT BRASS 8006-001 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded piping assemblies in light industrial, HVAC, plumbing, and general fluid-handling systems. Machined from 6061-series aluminum, this nipple offers a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to corrosion in low-moisture environments. It measures 3/8 inch nominal pipe size by 1 inch in length and is threaded on both ends to Schedule 40 specifications, making it a direct drop-in for standard NPT piping layouts. Weighing 0.014 pounds, it is suited for applications where minimizing system weight is a priority. A licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter is the typical installer.
This nipple is used in residential and light commercial piping systems where 3/8 inch Schedule 40 aluminum fittings are required. Common applications include compressed air lines, instrument air, low-pressure fluid distribution, and other systems where steel corrosion is a concern and aluminum is an approved material. The 1 inch body length fits close-coupled connections where minimal standoff between fittings or valves is needed. OSHA-compliant construction makes it appropriate for regulated workplace installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 3/8 inch NPT Schedule 40 aluminum piping systems using standard threaded fittings.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Use appropriate pipe thread sealant rated for aluminum and compatible with the system fluid. Do not over-torque aluminum threads, as 6061 aluminum is softer than steel and susceptible to thread damage from excess force.
