The MERIT BRASS 8004-300 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple designed for use in threaded piping systems. Machined from 6061 aluminum alloy, this nipple measures 1/4 inch nominal pipe size at 3 inches in length and is threaded on both ends. It weighs approximately 0.036 pounds, making it a lightweight fitting suitable for applications where corrosion resistance and reduced system weight are priorities. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting in low- to medium-pressure piping assemblies.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping systems where aluminum construction is specified over steel or brass. Typical installations include compressed air lines, pneumatic systems, and general fluid distribution runs where 6061 aluminum alloy offers adequate strength and corrosion resistance. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for 1/4 inch nominal pipe. It connects to any standard NPT-threaded fittings, valves, or pipe at the same nominal size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 40 aluminum nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local mechanical codes. Apply thread sealant tape or compound rated for use with aluminum threads before assembly. Do not overtighten, as aluminum threads are more susceptible to galling and cross-threading than steel. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings.
