The MERIT BRASS 8004-250 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 1/4 inch nominal pipe size by 2.5 inches in length and is threaded on both ends for straightforward inline connections. Weighing just 0.028 pounds, this nipple is well-suited for lightweight piping assemblies where corrosion resistance and reduced system weight matter. It meets OSHA standards and carries UNSPSC code 40173300. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting in low-pressure fluid and gas distribution systems where steel or brass would add unnecessary weight or react poorly with the media.
This pipe nipple is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial piping systems that require a short close nipple extension or a threaded coupling between two fittings. The 6061 alloy construction makes it appropriate for applications involving mild chemical exposure, compressed air, water, and similar non-reactive media. It is a standard threaded nipple and installs using conventional pipe wrenches or strap wrenches where surface finish must be preserved.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4 inch NPT Schedule 40 aluminum piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off system pressure and fully depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the media being conveyed. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings, as the alloy is softer than steel and threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
