The MERIT BRASS 8004-150 is a 6061 aluminum pipe nipple designed for threaded piping assemblies in plumbing, pneumatic, and light industrial applications. Manufactured to Schedule 40 wall thickness, it is threaded on both ends for straightforward connection to standard NPT fittings. The 1/4 inch nominal pipe size and 1-1/2 inch length make it well suited for close-coupled connections where space is limited. At 0.016 pounds, the part is lightweight without sacrificing the corrosion resistance that 6061 aluminum provides. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple as part of larger threaded assemblies in both new construction and retrofit work.
This nipple fits residential and light commercial piping systems where aluminum is preferred over steel or brass for weight savings or corrosion compatibility. Typical applications include compressed air lines, low-pressure fluid transfer, and pneumatic control circuits. The Schedule 40 construction meets common pressure requirements for these service types. It is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 6 pieces per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for 1/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems using Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipples.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded pipe component. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid before making up the joint. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings, as the material is more susceptible to thread damage than steel.
