The MERIT BRASS 8004-001 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple machined from 6061 aluminum alloy. It measures 1/4 inch nominal pipe size with an overall length of 7/8 inch and is threaded on both ends for direct connection to standard NPT fittings. This close nipple is used in low-pressure fluid and gas piping assemblies where corrosion resistance and light weight are priorities. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting when steel or brass would add unnecessary weight or introduce galvanic compatibility concerns in aluminum piping systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, compressed air, and instrumentation lines where a short threaded connector is required between fittings, valves, or equipment ports. The 6061 alloy provides good machinability and adequate strength for Schedule 40 service conditions. Its compact 7/8 inch length makes it a close nipple, useful in tight-space installations where a standard-length nipple would not fit. This item is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 6 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4 inch NPT aluminum piping systems in plumbing, compressed air, and instrumentation applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC and local mechanical codes. Depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use PTFE thread tape or an approved pipe thread sealant compatible with aluminum on all NPT connections. Avoid over-tightening, as aluminum threads can strip or gall more easily than steel.
