The MERIT BRASS 8002-150 is a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe nipple threaded on both ends, sized at 1/8 inch nominal pipe size by 1-1/2 inches in length. Machined from 6061 aluminum, this nipple delivers corrosion resistance with a lightweight profile suited for low-pressure piping assemblies. It is used by plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors to connect threaded fittings, valves, and instrumentation ports in piping systems where steel would add unnecessary weight or corrode in the service environment. The Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for the 1/8-inch pipe size.
This nipple fits residential and light commercial piping applications involving air, water, or compatible fluid distribution lines. It is commonly used in pneumatic instrument lines, low-pressure air supply headers, and similar utility piping where aluminum construction is specified. The 1/8-inch size is typical for gauge ports, bleed connections, and branch takeoffs in mechanical systems. Both ends carry NPT threads for direct connection to standard pipe fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1/8-inch NPT threaded piping assemblies requiring Schedule 40 aluminum nipples.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or mechanical code requirements for the service fluid and pressure rating. Depressurize and isolate the piping section before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to NPT threads before makeup. Do not overtighten aluminum fittings — aluminum threads are softer than steel and susceptible to galling or stripping under excessive torque.
