The MERIT BRASS 6548-7200PE is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for demanding piping applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness, this 3-inch nipple provides greater pressure handling capability than standard Schedule 40 fittings. The Grade 316 stainless steel construction resists chlorides, acids, and harsh process fluids, making it suitable for chemical, marine, food service, and industrial plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on corrosive-service or high-pressure systems select this nipple when standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not appropriate for the service environment.
This nipple is used in commercial and industrial piping systems where 3-inch Schedule 80 threaded connections are specified. Typical applications include process piping, chemical transfer lines, marine installations, and commercial plumbing systems requiring Grade 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. It is threaded on both ends per standard NPT fitting practice and connects directly to matching Schedule 80 fittings, valves, or pipe flanges.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3-inch Schedule 80 threaded piping systems requiring Grade 316 stainless steel construction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. Shut down and depressurize the piping system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the specific service fluid before threading. Avoid over-tightening, which can gall stainless steel threads and make future disassembly difficult.
