The MERIT BRASS 6532-1200 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple sized for 2-inch pipe, manufactured in Schedule 80 wall thickness from Grade 316/316L stainless steel. Schedule 80 construction provides increased wall thickness over standard Schedule 40, making this nipple suitable for higher-pressure and more demanding service conditions. Grade 316/316L dual certification delivers strong corrosion resistance, including resistance to chlorides and process chemicals. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors use this type of nipple to extend or connect threaded pipe runs in process, industrial, and commercial plumbing systems.
This nipple is appropriate for use in residential and commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, marine environments, chemical handling, and food-service installations where stainless steel is specified. The 2-inch pipe size suits main distribution lines, equipment connections, and branch headers. Seamless construction eliminates a weld seam, which reduces potential failure points under pressure cycling and corrosive service conditions. It is typically installed wherever a short threaded extension is required between fittings, valves, or equipment flanges.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for 2-inch Schedule 80 threaded stainless steel pipe systems. Suitable for use with standard 2-inch NPT fittings, valves, and couplings rated for Schedule 80 service.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections on stainless steel, as galling can occur; use proper pipe wrenches and follow standard torque practice for the fitting size.
