The MERIT BRASS 6520-450 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for demanding piping applications where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are critical. Manufactured to Grade 316/316L stainless steel, this nipple offers superior resistance to chlorides and corrosive media compared to standard 304-grade fittings. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness, it handles higher pressure service than standard-weight fittings of the same pipe size. The 1-1/4 inch pipe size fits into a wide range of industrial, commercial, and mechanical piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers for this type of threaded fitting.
This pipe nipple is suited for use in plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, chemical processing lines, marine applications, and food-service or sanitary piping where Grade 316/316L stainless steel is specified. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, reducing potential failure points under cyclic pressure or corrosive conditions. Schedule 80 wall thickness makes it appropriate for moderate-to-high pressure service in both residential and commercial mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fitting for 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Grade 316 or 316L stainless steel Schedule 80 components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections on stainless fittings, as galling can occur; use proper pipe wrenches and follow standard NPT thread engagement guidelines.
