The MERIT BRASS 6520-200 is a Schedule 80 seamless stainless steel pipe nipple sized for 1-1/4 inch pipe. Manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel, it provides strong resistance to corrosion, pitting, and crevice attack in aggressive environments including chemical, marine, and high-temperature service. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, producing consistent wall thickness and higher pressure ratings compared to welded alternatives. This nipple is threaded on both ends and is designed for plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on commercial and industrial piping systems where standard carbon steel or brass fittings are not suitable for the service conditions.
This pipe nipple is suited for use in industrial process lines, chemical transfer systems, marine installations, food and beverage piping, and corrosive-fluid service where 316 or 316L stainless steel is specified. The 316L designation indicates a low-carbon variant that minimizes sensitization risk during welding or high-heat exposure, making it a common choice when the fitting may be welded into a stainless assembly. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes such as the IPC or ASME B31.3 for process piping. Isolate and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and compatible with the service fluid. Avoid over-torquing threaded connections on stainless fittings, as galling of the threads can occur; apply anti-seize compound where recommended for the service environment.
