The MERIT BRASS 6512-1200 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple rated for Schedule 80 wall thickness and manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel. This nipple is designed for high-pressure and corrosion-resistant piping applications where standard carbon steel or lower-grade stainless fittings are not suitable. The 3/4 inch pipe size and threaded ends allow for direct connection into existing threaded piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in industrial process lines, chemical handling systems, marine environments, and commercial plumbing where resistance to chloride corrosion and elevated temperatures is required. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams, improving pressure integrity across the fitting body.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, process piping, and marine or coastal installations where Grade 316/316L stainless steel is specified for its superior corrosion resistance over Grade 304. Typical applications include chemical transfer lines, food and beverage piping, saltwater-exposed systems, and steam service within the pressure ratings of Schedule 80 fittings. The 3/4 inch pipe size is common in branch lines and secondary supply runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3/4 inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 80, Grade 316 or 316L stainless steel pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping codes. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded pipe fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and temperature before threading the nipple into female fittings. Do not overtighten threaded stainless steel fittings, as galling of the threads can occur if excess torque is applied without proper lubrication.
