The MERIT BRASS 6508-1200 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems that demand corrosion resistance and pressure integrity. Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness, this nipple handles higher-pressure applications than standard Schedule 40 fittings. The Grade 316/316L dual-certified stainless steel provides enhanced resistance to chlorides and acidic media, making it a reliable choice in chemical, marine, and process piping environments. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting wherever a robust threaded connection is required. The 1/2-inch pipe size suits a wide range of industrial and commercial piping runs.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, industrial process lines, and corrosive-fluid applications where carbon steel or standard 304 stainless fittings are insufficient. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams that can be weak points in high-pressure or high-cycle service. Typical installations include chemical feed lines, coastal or marine mechanical rooms, food-service piping, and anywhere chloride exposure is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2-inch NPT threaded piping systems requiring Schedule 80, Grade 316 or 316L seamless stainless steel pipe nipples.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or applicable ASME B31 piping standards. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-torquing threaded connections, which can gall stainless steel threads.
