The MERIT BRASS 6504-7200 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for high-pressure and corrosion-resistant piping applications. Manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel with a Schedule 80 wall thickness, this nipple delivers additional pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40 equivalents. It is sized for 1/4 inch pipe and is used in systems where standard carbon steel or brass fittings would be unsuitable due to chemical exposure, high moisture, or sanitary requirements. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of fitting in process piping, HVAC hydronic systems, and industrial fluid handling lines.
This pipe nipple is suited for residential and commercial installations where Grade 316 stainless steel is specified for its superior corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-rich or chemically aggressive environments. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or ASME B31 piping code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded pipe fitting. Use a thread sealant rated for stainless steel and compatible with the service fluid — PTFE tape or paste-type sealants are commonly used on NPT threads. Avoid over-torquing stainless steel threads, as galling can occur; apply anti-galling compound to threads before assembly when required by the application.
