The MERIT BRASS 6504-1200 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for demanding fluid and gas piping applications where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are critical. Manufactured to Schedule 80 wall thickness in Grade 316/316L stainless steel, this nipple delivers greater wall strength than Schedule 40 equivalents and performs reliably in corrosive, high-moisture, and chemically aggressive environments. The seamless construction eliminates weld seams that can be failure points under cyclic pressure. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this fitting as a short connector between threaded components in process, industrial, and commercial piping systems.
This pipe nipple is suited for 1/4 inch threaded piping systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Typical applications include chemical feed lines, saltwater or marine plumbing, food-service piping, and anywhere Schedule 80 wall thickness is specified for added pressure handling. The 316/316L dual-grade certification makes it compatible with both standard and low-carbon stainless specifications, giving it wider acceptance under piping codes and engineering specs that restrict sulfide stress cracking or sensitization at weld zones.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/4 inch NPT threaded Schedule 80 stainless steel piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable mechanical and plumbing codes such as the IPC or ASME B31.3. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping segment fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply a thread sealant rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-torquing stainless threads, as galling can occur on stainless-to-stainless connections.
