The MERIT BRASS 6502-001 is a seamless stainless steel pipe nipple designed for use in high-pressure and corrosion-sensitive piping systems. Manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel and built to Schedule 80 wall thickness, this nipple delivers greater wall strength than Schedule 40 equivalents, making it suitable for demanding fluid and gas transfer applications. The 1/8 inch pipe size fits compact piping runs where space is limited. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians install this type of fitting as part of threaded piping assemblies in process, mechanical, and utility systems.
This nipple is well suited for residential and commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, chemical handling lines, and marine or coastal installations where chloride corrosion resistance is a priority. Grade 316/316L stainless steel provides superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion compared to Grade 304, making it a preferred choice in environments exposed to salts, acids, or moisture. The Schedule 80 wall thickness supports higher operating pressures than standard Schedule 40 fittings at the same nominal pipe size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/8 inch Schedule 80 threaded stainless steel piping systems. Confirm thread standard and schedule requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and ASME B31 piping code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service fluid and pressure before making up threaded connections. Do not over-torque threaded stainless steel fittings, as galling can permanently damage the threads.
