The MERIT BRASS 6020-800 is a stainless steel pipe nipple designed for threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial process applications. Manufactured from Grade 316/316L stainless steel using a welded construction, this nipple delivers reliable corrosion resistance in demanding service environments including exposure to chlorides, chemicals, and moisture. Sized at 1-1/4 inch pipe with matching 1-1/4 inch thread and built to Schedule 40 wall thickness, it provides the structural integrity required for pressure-rated installations. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the typical end users for this type of fitting component.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial piping installations where stainless steel is specified for corrosion resistance or sanitary requirements. Common applications include process piping, water treatment systems, marine plumbing, chemical handling lines, and HVAC hydronic systems. The Schedule 40 wall thickness makes it appropriate for standard-pressure service in both above-ground and concealed installations. The 316/316L dual-grade designation also makes it compatible with low-carbon weld-adjacent applications where sensitization is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/4 inch threaded Schedule 40 stainless steel piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and ASME B31 piping code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for stainless steel and the intended service fluid. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections, as stainless steel fittings are susceptible to galling.
